Maria Wawreniuk is a graduate of the Acting Department at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź (PWSFTviT). She “absorbed art with her mother’s milk” — her mother is a Japanese pianist who married a Polish trombonist. Since childhood, she has performed on stage as a singer, dancer, and actress — first as a little angel in The Nativity Play at the Polish Theatre and alongside Gosia Andrzejewicz in From Kindergarten to Opole, and later, as an adult, as Iris in The Tempest at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and in the lead role of the Netflix series Open Your Eyes.
From 2019 to 2022, she co-created the band YANTRA, where she was responsible for the visual design, lyrics, and vocals, performing on some of Poland’s biggest rock stages, including Progresja in Warsaw and B29 in Gdańsk.
In addition to acting, she paints, composes music, and conducts workshops that combine somatic knowledge, vocal practice, and elements of interpersonal training.
